5 Everyday Foods To Keep You Healthy
In my quest of eating healthy along with a workout routine, I had to find out what kinds of foods are to my benefit. For most of us, we find it difficult to determine what foods are best to have everyday. There are just too many yummy distractions like Krispy Kreme glazed donuts and McDonalds fries out there. This week I’ve been avoiding those types of foods and been eating more fruits, yogurt, salad and egg whites to name a few.
According to this article, the 5 foods you should try to eat daily are as follows:
1. Oranges, or orange juice for you daily dose of vitamin C, beta carotene, folic acid and fiber. I usually start my day off with a small glass of orange juice in the morning.
2. Dark leafy greens, which are good to prevent cancer; also includes beta carotene, vitamin C antioxidants, fiber and lutein (good for the eyes). I actually prefer the darker greens in my salads since they have a better taste.
3. Bran or wheat bran, prevents constipation, prevents polyps and also is an anticancer agent. The best way to get bran is in cereal and breads.
4. Yogurt. I absolutely love yogurt, especially strawberry. Yogurt has calcium to prevent osteoporosis, boosts your immune system and fights bacteria. Have a yogurt smoothie, granola and fruit in plain yogurt (one of my favs) and instead of sour cream, use it on a baked potato.
5. Green tea. I’m a big green tea fan, whether it’s the Arizona kind with honey or just plain hot green tea with some honey. Green tea boosts metabolism and aids in weight loss.
I don’t find these foods hard to find or difficult to incorporate into my daily diet. Of course, you need to mix it up with variety of each food to make it interesting, but it sure beats eating something that’s not good for you!

I love green tea. I hardly drink it since we’ve returned from Japan. We use to have it daily every meal. Now, I rarely pull it out. Humm, maybe I’ll go get the kettle going right now! There’s no time like the present, right?
