When I was a little kid, I used to always ride my bike. It took me wherever I wanted to go, whether it was to the deli or a friend’s house. It was just an easy way to get somewhere since I couldn’t drive yet. Ever since I got my license, my bike retired in the garage. Then my boyfriend discovered this folding bicycle called a Dahon. I thought the idea was really cool, so I asked my mom for the Dahon bicycle for my birthday. I ordered it online and when I got it I was so protective over it I didn’t want to ride it because I was afraid of getting it scratched. I’ve ridden the bike a few times, but lately, it’s been sitting in my boyfriend’s garage. A couple months ago we went for a bike ride and according to my bike mileage counter we went around for 11 miles! It was a long distance for me but definitely a work out!
The Dahon is not a cheap bike but it’s a good bike to have since it can fold up and fit in your trunk, rather than buy one of those bike racks that go on the outside of your car. Not only is it a good form of exercise, you get to see scenery, rather than just the tv at the gym or other sweaty people working out.
Bike riding is a great form of cardio, and research indicates that spending 30 minutes riding your bike can be very beneficial to your health. It can help you lose body fat since you’re mostly working your quadriceps and gluteus maximus. It’s not as intense as the treadmill (if you’re running or jogging) or the elliptical, but it still gets your heart rate up to the point where you burn calories.
So dig out that bicycle in your garage or borrow your friend’s bike and get riding!

I would like to ride more but here in the UK it rains so much it is really difficult to ride outside. I have an indoor exercise bike instead!
