Do You Take A MultiVitamin?

One A Day MultivitaminEver since I started working out I’ve been taking a multivitamin. I’ve never been a big fan of the vitamins you have to chew since they seem to not taste very good so I stick to my One A Day Women’s vitamins. I take my vitamin with my breakfast in the morning. Women’s Health voted these vitamins best multivitamin.

Here is a list of what vitamins are actually in a Women’s One A Day multivitamin:
Vitamin A – helps maintain healthy bones and teeth, also promotes good vision
Vitamin B, B12 – important for metabolism
Vitamin C – a must everyday vitamin to consume of course!
Folic Acid – found in breads and cereals
Vitamin E – protects body tissue from damage by unstable substances in the body
Iron – prevents heart disease over time
Vitamin K – works with Vitamin D and Calcium to build bones
Vitamin D – to help absorb calcium
Calcium – for strong bones
Magnesium – to prevent heart disease, diabetes and colon cancer

Why take a multivitamin as supposed to individual vitamins? It’s easier, and these One A Day people know how much vitamin a person needs to consume for each of the vitamins listed above. Too much of a certain vitamin can actually harm you more than help you. Unless you’re deprived of a certain nutrient, you should stick to multivitamins. Taking one vitamin is not only convenient, it’s good knowing you’re getting the nutrients you should be getting daily!

Do you take a multivitamin? If so which brand?

  • I take Wilkinson's (a UK department store) own brand multi-vitamins. Cheap and cheerful :-)
  • I do take a multivitamin out of habit, but I no longer really feel that it is necessary. My goal is to get the maximum nutritional value from the foods that I eat which contain the vitamins and minerals necessary for the optimal functioning of my body, and contains them in a natural ratio from one to another that our bodies have evolved to require.
