I always try to eat brown rice instead of white. The problem is that:

a. White rice tastes so much better!!
b. My kids won't touch brown rice, so I have to cook both types. What a pain!

Here's to healthy eating even when it's a challenge.

I am right there with you when it comes to rice! When my mom cooks it is hard to resist. Brown rice is a good alternative though and I don't mind the taste.

Brown rice is excellent for you!!!!

You can make a ton of it and then use it for several meals.

All complex carbs are good because they are absorbed slowly and keep you feeling full. They also provide great nutrition. I like brown rice, whole grain bread, steel cut oats (very versatile, cheap at Whole Foods), and yams.

After workouts you can do simple carbs to refuel and replace your glycogen stores.

Amen. Seriously, living at home is rice death. You cannot escape till you move out. I myself have avoided it like a plague. Breakfast = Cereal, Lunch/Dinner = Salad and some meat. Carbs, taken in, but HEAVILY monitored.

Good luck with avoiding the rice.
