Thank you, Blaine, for mentioning 'Skeeter Skidaddler. That's my all natural, essential oil insect repellent developed and produced at my farm (Gentle Breeze Farm) in Maine. You can go to my website/store http://www.tremblingleaf.com to view information and order if you'd like. This formula has worked from the Maine North Woods to the Amazon Jungle, Boundry Waters in Northern Minnesota, etc.

I heard taking Vitamin B1 helps to keep them away. As I currently have 5 welts on my neck and others on my arms and hands, I am ready to try it--sleeping soaked in Skintastic didn't work at all!

Interesting ideas. I've tried using vicks vaporub and toothpaste and they work well for me. However, they're too messy to deal with, especially if you're not at home.

I normally don't have serious problems with mosquito bites but the itch is irritating.
I also think rubbing a banana peel is a bit messy.

A local farmer here in Maine makes an oil that he calls "Skeeter Skedaddler" and it works extremely well. It scares off not only the mosquitos, but the black flies and deer flies as well. I also have to own up to the fact that I'm the person that smells good while out on a run, although a few of my friends have started using the stuff as well now that they've seen how effective that it is.
