Health Hazards You May Not Be Aware Of

I found an interesting article in the latest Cosmopolitan magazine about health hazards that we may not even be aware of. I was reading through the short article, and I was pretty surprised on what I was reading!

Eating buttered microwave popcorn - of course, consuming this stuff is already unhealthy because of the sodium, but the smell is also bad for you, which when exposed, may make exhaling difficult. And to think buttered popcorn smell is known as a nice smell, it actually isn’t good for you to inhale. :(

Sleeping in your contact lenses - this is bad if you have alcohol in the mix. Alcohol dehydrates your eyes, which cause your contacts to tighten up, scratching your corneas. This then leads to eye infection.

Handling gym gear - we may not even realize it, but not everyone wipes off equipment. I know I do because its just polite and I don’t want to get on a machine that’s sweaty. You may rub your eyes and whoever didn’t wipe off the machine may have had a cold, getting you sick. I know how this is first hand recently, since I just got better from getting sick touching iPhones at the Apple store. :( Try not to touch your face while you’re working out at the gym to be safe, or at any place where lots of people are touching the same thing.

Caffeine and Tylenol - Taking large amounts of both, can set you up for liver disease. I honestly don’t know many people that take both together a lot, but it’s definitely something to keep in mind.

Good advice about the caffeine and tylenol and the handling of gym equipment.

You shouldn’t sleep in your contact lenses anyway because you don’t blink during that time and your eyes can dry out w/ or w/o alcohol in the mix. That can easily lead to an infection.

As for microwave popcorn, we don’t bother anymore. We buy bags of kernels and just cook them in a pot on the stove. That way we can make the amount that we want, it tastes better, and it’s a lot of fun too!

Thanks for the excellent tips and for sharing!

Eating buttered microwave popcorns (for convenience sake) also increases cholesterol levels in your body as well. I would also put my hands up to agree that inhaling its smell is unhealthy as well.

My mom drinks 2 cups of 3-in-1 coffee daily and the caffeine effects are taking a toll on her body now. Her teeth are extremely yellow, not forgetting that she can’t sleep with another cup of coffee before going to bed.
