My First Nike Plus Run

by Sue on January 7, 2008

I got the Nike + iPod, otherwise known as the Nike Plus for Christmas from a coworker and was finally able to try it out today. I had it for a few weeks, but I had to buy the Shoe Pouch since I don’t have a Nike Plus compatible sneaker.

Just place the Sensor on your shoe using a Shoe Pouch (you can get one through Amazon) if you don’t have a NikePlus compatible shoe and attach the receiver to your iPod. When the iPod is on, you will be prompted to what type of workout you’d like to do: by distance, time, calorie goal or even just an open ended workout. Once finished you’ll see your results. To get the results recorded on the site, you just need to connect your iPod to your computer and it will automatically record your run.

NikePlus.com is the site where you can view your progress, as well as interact with other NikePlus users. You can also set goals and even download music that you can use with the NikePlus as you run. I like the fact that it doubles as an iPod and a running tracker.

To see my results from my first day…I did 1.09 miles in 10:07. The downward spike is when I lost breath and walked. But it wasn’t long until I got back to running mode again.

I’m looking forward to seeing how I do this week in terms of running. Starting over after a long break is sure going to be tough, but the fact that my runs will be recorded give me more motivation to keep at it.

If you want to see more details of your workouts, if you want to compare your workouts, you should try Running Tracker. It’s designed specifically for the Nike+iPod device:

I bought the nike fit plus TWO weeks ago. I used it TWICE and the non-replacable sensor batter is now DEAD. I was told by the store where I bought it that this is NIKE’S fault as it probably sat on a shelf for a long time before I actually bought it and the only solution is to buy a new one.
What a RIPOFF!!!!

Just to let everyone know, I contacted Apple about my sensor problem and they sent me a new one within 48 hours. All I had to do was send back the old one in the pre paid envelope!

Good job Apple
