Ways To Portion Your Food

Portion PalsI was looking through the latest issue of Shape magazine, when I saw these discs that are made to help you portion your food, called PortionPals. They are translucent cutting boards that portion your food such as chicken, meat, fish, dessert and sides. Seems like a convenient tool, right? For $17, you can buy all 5.

In my opinion, it does look like a great tool, but you can portion the food and pile it up so it fits in the box, which doesn’t really help. Portioning your food is definitely a challenge, and although there are many food makers making 100 calorie, portioned food, what about those who like buying in bulk, like myself? What I usually do is put my snacks in a sandwich bag and take them with me when I’m on the go or snacking at work. You can also measure your snacks in a measuring cup – in either a 1/2 cup or 3/4 cup, depending on the type of snack. Bento boxes, are also a great way to portion your food, especially if you bring your lunch to work.

these do work. They come with an instruction card and you can use them as cutting boards. I know a few people using them.

I’m a huge fan of buying in bulk, then portioning off snacks, meals, etc! Although it takes time right when you get back from the grocery store, it helps you keep on your nutrition plan and on your way to your fitness goals. Awesome note about those plates, tho!
