I’m lucky to have a membership at the gym, a little gym in my community and a mini gym at my house. The thing is, my membership at the gym is going to come to an end…why? Where my gym is, is no longer a convenience to me. I’m a simple person, all I need is a treadmill, an elliptical, a mat, and free weights. In addition, I have a swiss ball and resistance band, which I use to vary my workouts. I’m thinking about getting an elliptical machine for the home too. Being able to rent different work out videos from Netflix too also gives variety to pilates, yoga, and fun cardio workouts. So to me, I don’t really need the gym, just as long as I mix up my workouts. Besides, exercising at home is more convenient, and I get to exercise with the fresh air not too far from me (since my porch houses most of my equipment).
Of course, everyone has their own opinions on where they rather exercise, whether it be the gym or at home. What do you prefer?

i enjoy and prefer running outside, but it’s just soooo cold here in the northeast during the winter months that i’m stuck inside a gym during that time!
I also prefer running outside. If that isn’t possible, then I need a gym. My house is way too distracting and I never get a real workout.
If you can make it work though I think it’s a great idea. Basically free and convenient!
The house is definitely convenient, especially when I put off going to the gym and it just gets too late in the evening. I’m with Workout Mommy though, I do get distracted in the house, too. Plus, in the gym I get to drop the little ones in child care and it becomes special time for me to think in peace (even with the IPod and 20 TV screens to take in). Getting the different workout DVDs from Netflix is awesome.
I’ve been doing some of the workouts on Comcast On Demand’s Fitness channel and they are ok. I wish some of them were longer actually. I find that when I workout at home, it’s harder for me to stay focused like when I’m at the gym. I keep eyeing the fridge between my air kicks.
I like the variety that the gym offers and also the interaction of other people.
I do all my runs outside anyway, but I do go to the gym for some light weight training.
I don’t even bother going to the gym anymore, except to run on a treadmill when it’s cold out. I do all bodyweight exercises at my house and run outside in the summer.
I like to run outside, even on rainy days. I also just purchased a Whole Body Vibration exercise machine , and I love it. * I attached the website.
