It is really hard to eat healthy as most people have junk food addictions - the urge to eat those comfort foods is the same urge a heroin addict has, scientists say. Eating healthy is always the hard part.

I just started eating healthy, Today! After 29 years of eating whatever I want, whenever I want, as much as I want, as late as I want, I decided I need to make a change. I am not going on a diet, I am starting a healthy lifestyle, so I will feel better about my self, my choices and so I can set a better example for my children. I have long believed that if I exercise than I can eat whatever I like. This is not true. I am now incorporating healthy eating into my exercise routine. This morning I had a bowl of oatmeal, bicycled to work, had a bowl of chicken, rice and fennel soup for lunch, had a bowl of strawberrys and blackberrys for a snack and for dinner I had a salad of mixed greens with cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and grilled chicken with a low fat red bell pepper vinagarette. Even though I am full (satisfied) I find that I am still craving something else. A slice of pizza, a cheeseburger, some icecream, anything that I used to eat on a regular basis. Changing your eating habits is not easy. We still want that comfort food that makes us feel, so good. It is now seven o'clock in the evening, I will go and walk/jog for two hours, come home, resist my food craving. Maybe eat some more fruit if I must satisfy my hunger. And tomorrow I will do it all over again. Exercise and eat healthy. I don't want to cut carbs out of my diet. I want to give my body what it needs. This is the second site I came to after googling "eating healthy is hard" I hope my words can help others and if others can help me, please do. I am off to the next site to hopefully learn something new and helpful about living and eating healthy. Thankyou.

James, Honolulu.

I really like your blog, I just found you on blog catalog. :) Desk eating is the bane of my life, I usually end up skipping meals rather than eating at my desk because I get busy at work and forget. Prevention magazine talked about desk dining recently, they posted an article on their blog (http://buzz.prevention.com/smart-dining-al-desko/ ) - it was eye-opening because apparently 74% of workers are desk-eaters. Why can they figure it out by I can't? At least Prevention gave some suggestions for what are great at-desk meals for breakfast, snacks, and lunch.

Eating Healthy is hard, but there are ways to learn how to control your eating habits. Part of it is having positive influences around encouraging you to eat healthy. Other ways to control how much you eat is eating a diet high in fiber, keeping busy, planning ahead, drinking a lot of water, not eating while doing other activities, staying away from foods high in sugar and eating balanced meals. It takes some time to develop these habits. Also stress and other habits can trigger eating too much food and eating unhealthy foods. Northwest Influence, www.northwestinfluence.com, focuses on being a positive, healthy influence for women and children. Many of us know what we need to do, we just need someone to guide us.
