Smoothie Addict!

img_21321So last week’s summary:  Not too bad for getting back into the working out groove.  I did 3 DVD aerobic workouts and 2 other workouts.  The other 2 workouts comprised of manual labor, like helping Glen putting away his boat and bringing stuff into the house.  Not sure how much that counts as exercise. so technically, I’d say I did 3 aerobic workouts which is not too bad.

I’m happy that Glen is getting into working out with me, and not only that, he’s leaning towards eating healthier now.  We went to Whole Foods over the weekend and picked up a few snacks such as Dry Roasted Edamame, Brown Rice Marshmallow treats (more on those snack in another post) and Whey Protein shake powder.  Today we tried one of the Protein Shake powders and may I say, it was really really good!  We tried the Jay Robb Vanilla Whey Protein and added 8 frozen strawberries and about 2 1/2 cups of almond milk.  After blending it looked very much like a strawberry shake, and it was really yummy!  I think I am really into using frozen fruit rather than ice.  Now when I go grocery shopping I’m all about using frozen fruit (without any sugar added of course) for my smoothies!

Another weekend over, and another week starts!  The weekend goes by way too fast!

Almond milk? I’ll have to try that. Protein power goes very well with those drinking yogurts as well. Protein, ice cubes, 250ml of drinking yogurt and some fruits ;)

Yeah, almond milk is a pretty good alternative for someone who doesn’t react well to regular milk. It’s quite tasty too. :)

Smoothie King has a great smoothie for a boost of energy. It has a combination of banana, strawberries, apples, and oranges. It is a great shot before a workout.

I’ve never tried Smoothie King, I think there is one in the area though. Sounds delish!

I almond milk tastes great in a shake! Rice milk also works too. At my trainers studio in Toronto ( Roland Semprie) he uses this great protien power called Sytha-6. It tates no different than having a milkshake at Mcdonals.

I have never considered using almond milk for smoothies. That’s a great idea. One smoothie ingredient I usually use is half a package of soft tofu. Blend the tofu in with frozen fruit and milk and you’ve got a really delicious, high-protein smoothie.
