First off, thanks for all the advice on my last post! I really need to up the exercise a little and work my way up.
There is something that I really love, that I decided to sacrifice. I’m a fried food lover. My favorite food in the world is french fries, and yes, as bad as that sounds, I can’t help it. They’re crispy, salty and delicious. I also am a fried chicken lover too. I just love the crispiness that fried food offers, but I decided that I am going to stop eating. I’m experimenting with how fried foods affect the way I look overall, and I think its a start. It’s a start to eating healthy and watching what I eat. If anyone knows of any food recipes that are not fried and still crispy, let me know!
By the way, dance class was cancelled today, but at least tomorrow is ballroom. Ballroom is definitely different from hip hop, and we were the youngest ones there, but it was still fun, not only because it’s dancing, but I get to dance with the person I absolutely love and adore. I can’t wait!

Try sweet potato fries made at home!! Just a tiny bit of olive oil, and pop them in the oven….mmmm, delicious!
I recently “gave up” Wendy’s chicken nuggets. I always complained about them with their gross recycled oil flavor and yet I kept eating them. I jokingly started boycotting them when they raised the price to $1.20! lol (How dare they take my 20 cents!) Maybe its because I stopped going to fast food places as much as I did before, but my weight finally started moving downward again, slowly but surely. (I also used to eat tons of taco bell…mmmm….) I like to say its because I gave up those chicken nuggets.
Yay for dancing!! If I wasn’t taking so many dance classes (3 belly dancing classes and starting 1 new flamenco class next week) I might want to convince my boyfriend to take ballroom with me. Maybe in the future. =]
If you like fried chicken without the fried you might want to try the recipe in the cook book “In the kitchen with Rosie” who used to be Oprah’s personal chef. As I recall that recipe was da bomb! I think she also had baked french fries that were pretty awesome as well.
Good for you in your decision to eat health! My prediction…you’ll be feeling better pretty quick! Good luck!
I, too, love fried chicken and was loathe to tell myself that I could never eat it again. So I came up with a plan: Any truly favorite but unhealthy food has an occasional tied to it. The occasions cannot make the food reward and cannot occur too frequently. Then when the occasion occurs, I have the choice of eating that limited food THAT DAY ONLY. If I choose not to eat it, I only have to wait until the next time comes around.
So far:
-donuts on day’s I get a fasting blood test. Haven’t had a donut in over a year.
-fried chicken on days I get the oil changed in my car. Was just yesterday. I did not even think about getting fried chicken. So we’ll see how I feel in September when it comes around again.
I’ve given up almost all fried foods all the time. Feel so much better and I’m healthier too.
Do you like bagels? Try toasting thinly sliced bagel chips in the oven with olive oil.
