I’m happy that Glen is getting into working out with me, and not only that, he’s leaning towards eating healthier now. We went to Whole Foods over the weekend and picked up a few snacks such as Dry Roasted Edamame, Brown Rice Marshmallow treats (more on those snack in another post) and Whey Protein shake powder. Today we tried one of the Protein Shake powders and may I say, it was really really good! We tried the Jay Robb Vanilla Whey Protein and added 8 frozen strawberries and about 2 1/2 cups of almond milk. After blending it looked very much like a strawberry shake, and it was really yummy! I think I am really into using frozen fruit rather than ice. Now when I go grocery shopping I’m all about using frozen fruit (without any sugar added of course) for my smoothies!

Another weekend over, and another week starts! The weekend goes by way too fast!

Sorry I didn’t post yesterday. Today I’m leaving for NYC and yesterday was all about tying up things at work before I left, and doing laundry. I was able to run while the laundry was going and I was planning to do another day of the Couch to 5K, so I headed off to the gym in my community. I did my five minute walk and got to the gym, only to find out these two guys were in there smoking cigars! The gym is in a clubhouse and it was so bad I couldn’t run in there. I was better off running outside, as humid as it was. So I went to the other end of the neighborhood, running and walking until I got back home, which is at the end of the other side of the neighborhood. My total mileage was a measly 1.48. Better than nothing, I guess.

Here was my meal yesterday -

Coffee and oatmeal with Panda Puffs and some Vanilla Rice Milk

Lunch was some rotisserie chicken, potato salad and some Panda Puffs for a snack.

Dinner was some pasta with broccoli and chicken breast in alfredo sauce.

This morning I had some oatmeal with Agave Nectar, a small portion of potato salad, and a cup of coffee with creamer and Agave Nectar.

I STILL haven’t finished packing, and although I’m only going to be there until Sunday, I’m just being laggy. I gotta leave the house by 11am to catch my 1pm flight, so I better get off the computer. I won’t be posting until I get back since I’m not going to bring my computer. But I’ll definitely bring my camera! Have a good weekend everyone!

I was off to a good morning, I had breakfast – egg whites and oatmeal with honey and flaxseeds, and a cup of coffee.

Then I packed my lunch which consisted of soup, a whole wheat pita with turkey, soy pudding and Kashi Cinnamon Harvest Cereal.

I got to work and worked, and got home and to my surprise my mom made my favorite potato salad. So yummy. I had a little and then went to Publix with my sister. For some odd reason I started feeling nauseous and so did my sister, so we thought maybe it was the potato salad. I don’t know. When we got home we both threw up and I still feel really yucky. I was planning to exercise but I just don’t feel too well. I’m pretty mad about it though. Have you ever had one of those days where you knew what you were going to do then something unexpected happens? That’s me today. That means tomorrow I have to work out twice as hard to make up for it. At least after I get out of work tomorrow I am on vacation! Yay!

For dinner I had an odd dinner – some rotisserie chicken from Costco and some Peanut Butter Panda Puffs. The Panda Puffs were in the organic section of the cereal aisle and I saw it on someone else’s blog. I had to try it! It kind of reminded me of peanut butter Cap’n Crunch cereal but not as peanut buttery. I’m sure they’re yummy in Soy Milk!

BTW, the soda in the background isn’t mine, my sister left it there, along with other stuff you may see there. She’s making cupcakes. And you can also see the potato salad my mom made. I really hope it wasn’t the reason I got sick.

Off to rest I go. I haven’t done that in a while, but my body says I need it.

I’m sure that most of us at some point in their life, including me, has felt like they’ve eaten too much. Sometimes I feel like after I eat a meal, I start feeling hungry all over again! I wanted to know why I was feeling this way, so with a little research, I was able to figure out why.

Eating wayy too fast. This happens a lot, especially when I’m at work and lunchtime starts creeping closer. I would wait until I was so hungry to eat, when I finally got my lunch I would wolf it down and in 5 minutes I ‘d be done. Then probably an hour later, I’d feel hungry again. So lately, I’ve been eating slower, enjoying and savoring every bite of my food, and I’ve actually found that to work. It takes about 20 minutes for your body to realize that it’s had enough. Now when I have lunch, I take my time, and eat as I catch up on reading blog posts in my Google Reader.

Knowing if I’m REALLY full or not. A recent example happened to me while I was on vacation. In Vegas, there are lots of buffets, and the idea is to just eat and eat so you get your money’s worth. I definitely did, and I’ll admit it wasn’t a wise choice because once you know you’re full, you’re full. Going overboard and over eating results in feeling really sick and then you really think about the value of eating at a buffet. Sure, you may think you got your money’s worth, but I think health is more important. Good thing I don’t live by any buffets!

Eating whatever you want. That sounds easy enough, but I’m saying this with some kind of control. With a mentality of wanting to avoid junk foods like chocolate and cookies will just make you want to indulge even more when you actually get to eat a piece of chocolate (its like gambling… you just want to pull that slot machine one more, leading to another one more and so on). Have a mentality where you’re going to have at the very least 2 pieces of chocolate and then put it away, knowing you’ll have more for another day. (I say chocolate because I actually just had two Hershey kisses and stopped there – it was dark chocolate btw!)

So whenever you’re eating, enjoy your food, savor the flavor because food is a treat in itself!

So I thought I was going to be unable to work out but after I saw this DVD I’ve been wanting to try at Walmart, I decided to just go ahead and do it anyway, even if it was already 10PM. I’ve never worked out that late before, but it wasn’t bad at all, but the workout definitely kicked my butt!

I got the Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred Workout and seriously, that lady is hardcore. I was literally feeling really sore by the end of the workout. But I guess if a workout does that much to you, you must be doing something right. The workout is about 20 minutes long and there are 3 Levels, 1 being the beginners workout, and 3 being the more advanced. The workout is based on an interval system 3-2-1, which starts with one 2 minute warm up, 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of abs repeating this interval system 3 times ending with a 2 minute cool down. Sounds easy enough right? Nope! Literally, you are working hard and there is no stopping. You’ll also need hand weights and an exercising mat if you don’t have carpeted floors.

I think I overdid myself though because all I had were 5 lbs weights, and I was having a lot of trouble at the end, not to mention the push ups. I was able to do 2 regular push ups but then had to revert to knee push ups, which also was a challenge with my one bad knee. So I gotta get strength to do the regular push ups! I totally recommend this DVD to anyone who wants to try a new workout out. I’m really glad that I got this one!

Today I actually made my own lunch like, cooking style! Usually I pop something in the microwave, oven or boil water and mix stuff together, but this time I cut veggies, boiled and made to taste. I made a Salad Nicoise Sandwich which is basically veggies and tuna in a pita. I regret that I didn’t take a picture, but this is what it pretty much looked like.

I was surprised that my mom and sister ate it and liked it! There wasn’t much left when I got home. Usually no one eats what I make, I guess they’re afraid that it will taste bad. LOL.

Also, I wanted to show y’all a picture of me and some gear provided by FitCouture.com (thanks so much again!). They sell a bunch of fitness clothing and it’s pretty comfy! The clothes are very fitted but you can still move around in them. Love the yoga pants especially, even though they look like pants on short lil me. HAHA.

I’m wearing the Vegas II top and the Barcelona Workout Capris, but to me they’re more like crop pants!
