Soooo today I started training for another 5K in November and since I haven’t run in a while, I decided to train with the Couch to 5K regimen, which is pretty doable for me. I’m not a hardcore runner and I’m really doing it for my own personal goal and hopefully run a better time than the other two 5K’s I’ve ran. I used my Nike+ iPod and will be using it with my runs.

Here’s today’s workout which started with a 5 minute walk, which was spent walking to the community gym, followed by alternating 1 minute runs and 1.5 minute walking for 20 minutes. Then I walked all the way back home.

I don’t know about you, but I have to have music when I run. I really wanted to make my own Couch to 5k playlist with cues to run and walk but I was having a hard time with this program I used called Audacity. It just wasn’t working the way I wanted. Then I was thinking, maybe it wasn’t worth it because I’ll probably change my playlists. If you’re interested, here is the playlist of songs I ran to:

Couch to 5K Playlist #1

As soon as I got home I was starving! My mom made a pretty yummy dinner, which is pictured below:

I had: A baked potato with a small dollop of sour cream, grilled chicken drumstick, 2 pieces of fried tofu and a salad with red peppers and tomatoes with Tony Wu Soy Garden dressing. This dressing is so good! Yummy dinner!

Music is really important to me, and because of that, it’s important to have music with me when I workout. I’ll admit that I’m pretty dependent on it, but it helps to keep me motivated, so whatever works! I came across Skinny Songs, from a reader and got my hands on a copy. The music is upbeat and most of the songs are about losing weight and keeping in shape. The music is a mix of upbeat Pop, Rock and Country and the lyrics are ALL about losing weight, body image, and getting motivated to make a change.

SkinnySongs is not about any particular size or shape — it is all about setting your own personal goals and taking charge of your life to achieve them.

Although the title is a little misleading, at least they clarify! I think fit is in, not skinny. Skinny Songs has been featured on The Martha Stewart Show, US Today, The Early Show and Oprah and Friends Radio. I think it’s definitely different than your average workout music. Hear some sample tracks of the songs and lyrics at Skinny Songs.

I’ve also decided to give away my copy of Skinny Songs to one lucky reader! All you need to do is subscribe to my RSS feed and leave a comment with – 1) Your Location 2) Your favorite genre of music to listen to while working out. I’ll announce the winner on Monday, March 17. Good luck!
