My Story
So, who am I?
My name is Sue and I run this website, Workin’ On My Fitness. If you’re reading this I’m glad that you want to learn more about me. I’m in my 20′s and I am a full time blogger and internet marketer. For a long time I never thought I would need to exercise because growing up I was always skinny. I remember that my parents would always tell me that I never ate enough and I needed to look “healthier.” Nonetheless, as time went by I eventually looked “healthy,” and I was happy with my body. This was throughout high school and college. I never had issues about the way I looked, especially when I wore clothing that was more fitted.
Ever since I graduated college and entered the 9-5 working world, I’ve started to notice that my size 2 jeans started to get tighter…so I had to get a pair of new jeans, in a size 4. A few months later, those jeans didn’t fit anymore, and I had to buy size 6 jeans and sometimes when I would shop for jeans or shorts I wouldn’t even fit into a size 6, but a 9! That really took a toll on me. How did I get so fat so quickly? I knew that I kept the habits that I used to when I was in high school and college, eating anything from McDonalds fries (my weakness) to Snickers bars (another weakness). Not to mention having a boyfriend, who is now my husband, who could eat anything and not gain a pound didn’t really help either. Eventually I knew I had to do something about this because I was no longer happy with the way I looked. I felt embarrassed to go out and wear halter tops and walking along the beach in a bikini. I joined a gym. I worked out 5 times a week for like a month and a half straight. I still didn’t see any difference so I stopped going.
One day, I was driving home and an idea popped into my head. WorkinOnMyFitness.com. I was wondering if that domain was taken. It reminded me of a line in a song by Fergie called “Fergalicious” where she said, “I be up in the gym just workin’ on my fitness…” I got home, and bought the domain name right then and started building my blog. The reason why I thought the domain name appealed to me was because I read about Fergie in several fitness magazines and saw how she went from a meth addict to where she is today, successful and most importantly, in shape and living healthy! I was inspired by the fact that she worked her way to feeling good about herself, which is really tough to do. I know for me, I find it very difficult because I work 8 hours a day and get home and I’m exhausted from the work day. I figured that this blog could motivate me to exercise because I would write about each day I exercised and how I felt as I was doing it. If I didn’t work out, then how could I update? How could I prove that I was really serious?
Being in shape is something I believe we should all be doing because we only live once in this world. Eating healthy while enjoying the taste of food is also important to me. I’m totally against deprivation and crash dieting. Eating is good for you if you choose the right foods! Feeling good about oneself is another thing that I deeply believe in, because if you don’t feel good about yourself, you don’t care what you consume into your body which then leads to living an unhealthy life. So with this blog I really hope to help those who feel unhappy about themselves get out of that and feel good about themselves.
Please note: I may not be a professional, but I’m very passionate about the topic of health and fitness. I recommend a lot of things on my site, and will never promote anything that will hurt myself thus others. This blog is purely for informational purposes only and should not be used as medical advice. Always go to your doctor should you decide to participate in any of the workouts I discuss on my site, for your benefit.
